Time to check out what we’ve been playing in the past week!
Wolcen: Lords of Mayhem
Ever since the release of Wolcen I’ve been hearing good things about it – beyond the initial connection problems that is. Solid game mechanics, deep skill trees to explore and a beautiful setting. Seeing as I was a big fan of Diablo III and have enjoyed other ARPG’s I decided to pick it up this weekend.
Wolcen: Lords of Mayhem is a hack and slash action RPG that features no class restrictions. Led by Grand Inquisitor Heimlock himself, troops are soon deployed on the Coast of wrecks, near the city-state of Stormfall, to terminate a camp of Brothers. You’re amongst this invading army and, well, it doesn’t go too well.
As seems to be the trope with APRG’s you then wake up on a shoreline with no weapons or armour. Queue fighting and lots of it. I’m around 3 hours in so far and it’s been an excellent romp. There has been a good variety of enemies to plough my way through. Additionally, the locations have been interesting to explore. The loot has been satisfactory up to this point, but I’m expecting it to get a lot better soon!
Along my journey, I’ve fought a few bosses too. What I enjoyed about the boss fights and what was different from something like Diablo III was that they actually posed a threat. Diablo III was a cruise for me, there was no challenge throughout the story. However, whilst Wolcen hasn’t been that difficult up to now. That being said, the bosses themselves have held some threat. If you’re not careful you die pretty quickly.
I’ve decided to go with down the mage route and it’s been enjoyable. The skill tree is huge and a little daunting, but I’m slowly making my way through it. The first few hours have been really fun and I’m looking forward to getting back to it!
Escape from Tarkov
Honestly, I’m so hooked on this game right now. It feels like I’m barely playing anything else. Anyway, here’s a recent video from some fun sessions!
