I don’t tend to play many farming sims or cosy games. That being said, there are times when I really get into those slower-paced games and will spend a solid few weeks wanting to play nothing but something more chilled. I really enjoy monster collecting games, though. Monsterpatch: A Cozy Monster-Collecting RPG is a combination of both monster collecting and cosy farm sim, and I can see myself sinking a lot of time into it. Especially on my Steam Deck, as it looks like the perfect game for kicking your feet up and casually collecting little Mons and building your town.

Monsterpatch: A Cozy Monster-Collecting RPG
Explore a floating continent filled with magical creatures known as MoNs. MoNs love battling alongside wizards who catch and care for them. As you explore the lands, you will be embroiled in an epic adventure that will see you visit new cities and take on the Houses that rule them. Each House has unique MoNs and strategies, which you will need to plan and prepare for to win. Along the way, you’ll find new MoNs to nurture, develop, and eventually evolve into new, more powerful forms.

Then, when you feel like a little R & R, you can head home to plant some crops, grow fruits, and develop your town. You’ll be able to build everything from decor within buildings to the buildings themselves. Additionally, you can recruit townsfolk to help with tasks and to expand your town.
Battles with MoNs consist of a team composition of 4 MoNs that can synergize for powerful strategies. You can customise their stats, moves, and what items they can hold.

A contender?
There have been many monster collecting contenders, but Pokemon has always sat on top. That’s not to say there haven’t been some excellent games in the genre, though. Despite only seeing a little of Monsterpatch: A Cozy Monster-Collecting RPG, I think this game could sit comfortably with the best around. It looks fantastic, and has enough creativity and its own ideas to make it stand out, but isn’t going wildly off genre, or overly complicated. Personally, I think it looks brilliant and I will be backing the Kickstarter ASAP. It’s running until roughly the end of April, and for £15ish, it’s not a bad price to get a copy of the game. Go and check it out for yourself, there’s a lot more to read about!
