This month for IGN first they are focusing on smaller games, and the first one to get their attention is Campo Santo’s Firewatch. As a result of this, we’ve got to take a look at some brand new gameplay, 17 minutes of it in fact!
In Firewatch you play as a man named Henry who has retreated from his messy life to work as a fire lookout in the Wyoming wilderness. Perched high atop a mountain, it’s your job to look for smoke and keep the wilderness safe. An especially hot, dry summer has everyone on edge. Your supervisor, a woman named Delilah, is available to you at all times over a small, handheld radio – and is your only contact with the world you’ve left behind.
Take a look at the gameplay below.
Firewatch featured on our most anticipated games for this year, and I think it’s pretty easy to see why. It’s already looking like it will be a great game, plus those visuals, man they’re good. I also didn’t expect to see quite so much humour in it though, but I think it actually works pretty well.
At the moment the only release date we have for it is 2015, and that’s only for Windows, Mac and Linux. However, Campo Santo have stated that they’d like it to come to consoles as well. I don’t think I’d be able to wait for that, so will probably be getting in on Windows as soon as it’s out.
