There is a chance you’ve woken up today to people talking about a game called Black Myth: Wu Kong. Or maybe you haven’t heard a single thing and are now wondering what is Black Myth: Wu Kong? Either way, I’m here to tell you a little more about a wonderful looking game in the works.

What do we know?
Being developed by indie team Game Science Studio based in China. Black Myth: Wu Kong is a single-player action-adventure, RPG game based on the Journey to the West mythology.

Currently planned for release on PC and consoles – although no whiff of a release date has been mentioned. The game is being developed in Unreal Engine 4 and quite frankly looks stunning. Furthermore, the game will put players in the role of the Monkey King where you’ll be able to make use of up to 72 abilities. A few of which can be seen in the gameplay video below.
The gameplay shows a mixture of some boss fights, exploring the lush world, and turning on the style against lesser grunts. It looks fantastic and the combat is looking very slick. The combat seems to be a combination of timed abilities on cooldowns, and stamina based fighting. With attacking and blocking using up what I assume is the stamina bar.

At certain points we see the Monkey King transforming in to other animals such as a small flying insect that is being used to avoid detection. Later on he transforms in to a larger monkey that towers over his foes and does big AOE attacks dishing out some serious damage.
There isn’t much more we know about Black Myth: Wu Kong but it’s safe to say that this trailer has firmly placed it on my one to watch list and I will be keeping a close eye on progress. The setting looks incredible and the legend it is based on has a tonne of interesting lore and mythology to explore. It looks very exciting indeed.
