Despite no E3 this year, we’ve still had a busy few days of video game shows and announcements. Thursday evening saw the Summer Game Fest and we rounded up a few of our favourite looking titles from that. Today we’re doing the same for the Xbox & Bethesda show that took place last night.
A Plague Tale: Requiem
Release Date: 2022
Platforms: PS5, Xbox Series X & Series S, Nintendo Switch, PC Steam & Epic Store
The rats are back in their droves. A Plague Tale seemed to be a real surprise hit when it came out in 2019. The sequel is looking just as good if not better. Being a big fan of the first game I’m hopeful that Reqiuem will build upon its success of it and deliver a bigger and better experience.
Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn
Release Date: Early 2023
Platforms: PS5, Xbox Series X & Series S, PC Steam & Epic Store
I’d forgotten about Flintlock up until this point. The developers behind Ashen are stepping things up with their next souls-like project. Flintlock is looking slick and every inch the AAA. Great visuals, cool world lore, intense-looking combat. I can’t wait to see some more of it.
Lightyear Frontier
Release Date: Spring 2023
Platforms: Xbox Series X & Series S, PC Steam
I’ve been waiting to see some more of this and now that I have I can say it’s looking very cool. As a fan of survival and building games, I had a feeling I would like the look of it. The addition of mechs makes it infinitely cooler.
Diablo IV
Release Date: 2023
Platforms: Xbox Series X & Series S, PC Steam, PS4, PS5
At last. Finally something on Diable IV. It looks incredible.
Starfield
Release Date: 2023
Platforms: Xbox Series X & Series S, PC Steam, PS4, PS5
It was great to finally see some gameplay of Starfield. I can’t help but feel like people were expecting way too much from it. I think it looks good. It looks like more of what Bethesda does well – create great open-world RPG’s. I wasn’t totally blown away by it. But I’m 100% sure I will play the hell out of it.
Honestly, that was kind of it from the show. There wasn’t anything else that really caught my eye. Hollow Knight Silksong looks fantastic too, but with no release date, it doesn’t really feel like we got anything new out of it being shown.
There was also a lack of Indie projects shown. Usually, Xbox likes to showcase a good ID@Xbox section. However, unless I missed it, it was missing… That being said, the future for Xbox and PC looks great. The reasons for owning an Xbox or PC with gamepass are mounting up.
