2016, the year of VR is already off to a shakey but expected start. Oculus Rift pricing details were confirmed last night with orders due to start in March.
The price to dive into VR? $599.99. Yes… Five hundred and ninety nine dollars. Not forgetting you need a very high end PC for Oculus to run on too.
It’s a very steep price to start, but again it was expected to be an expensive leap into the tech.
So what do you get with the headset for $600?
The $600 will get you:
- Headset
- Sensor
- Oculus Remote
- Cables
- Xbox One Controller
- EVE: Valkyrie
- Lucky’s Tale
Still it’s a lot for what you get.
Understandably there has been a lot of negativity with regards to this price point, but it should be said that orders were fulfilled for March and April, and if you were wanting an Oculus now you’ll have to wait till May’s shipments.
Sony’s PlayStation VR is expected to be revealing price soon as is HTC Vive, so the VR war is going to in full swing soon.
