Microsoft came out and set a high standard, EA dropped slowed the tone a little bit. Ubisoft picked the pace up and then Sony took a page from Nintendo’s book and dropped bombs. It’s now the turn of Nintendo to put on a performance in the post Sony E3 2015 world.
Sadly it appears Sony took all the bombs, Nintendo’s presentation turning out be rather a poor showing.
It started off like last years to a comedic tone with Reggie, Iwata and Miyamoto starting the show off as puppets. They then transform to members of Team Star Fox and we are shown Star Fox Zero for Wii U. It’s a good start.
Next up we’re with Reggie (real Reggie not puppet Reggie) and he’s got an announcment with Activision that 2 new Amiibo figures are to be released that will be compatibile with Skylanders Super Chargers. These Amiibo will also be able to feature in upcoming Nintendo titles too.
Next up a new Zelda game that reminded me of 4 Swords. It’s a co-op game for 3 players. It can be played online co-op or you can play the game on your own. The Legend of Zelda TriForce Heros:
Following the trailer was the confirmation of something that leaked last week that Hyrule Warrirors will be coming to 3DS with all the DLC and Windwaker characters and levels. It’ll be out quarter 1 of 2016.
A very quick blink and you’ll miss it video for Metroid Prime Feferation Force which is a 4 player co-op Metroid game, and also Metroid Prime Blast Ball. Available 2016 for 3DS. So… there’s your Metroid Prime.
Next up Fire Emblem Fates for 3DS in 2016
And Shin Megami X Fire Emblem is looking alot different to what we thought for WiiU
Next up Xenoblade Chronicles X, a game that’s starting to feel really old despite not launched yet.
A double whammy for Animal Crossing. Happy Homes Designer for 3DS (which I probably will get) and some odd Mario Party type game called Animal Crossing Amiibo Festival for Wii U which no one asked for was shown. Why turn Animal Crossing WiiU into this.(I probably won’t get this, but want the Amiibos)
Onto Yoshi next which still looks awesome.
Level 5 are working on a game called Yo-Kai Watch for 3DS this holiday season.
2 popular Mario series are clashing as Paper Mario and the Mario and Luigi RPG series are merged into one game called Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam.
Next up Mario Tennis Ultra Smash for Wii U is revealed.
And then we’re left with Super Mario Maker to close the show and the confirmation that an 8-bit Mario Amiibo will be releasing in celebration of 30 years of Mario. Personally I can’t get into the hype for Mario Maker, but Nintendo sure did put it down our throats closing the show off with it and spending more time talking about it than any other game in the conference.
So the Nintendo hype train crashed, We didn’t get any Mario Kart DLC, no confirmation on new Splatoon DLC, no Metroid Prime (sorry the co-op game for 3DS doesn’t count), Zelda for 3DS looking like a bit of an after thought of Link Between Worlds & 4 Swords combined.
I had the initial impression Metroid Prime Federation Force and Zelda Tri Force Hero’s were going to be Free2Play titles, we await confirmation. And slightly devestated at what Animal Crossing Wii U will become.
Can’t help but feel the big guns are being lined up for Nintendo NX already with filler from now till the end of the Wii U’s lifecycle.
